Our opportunity: Meeting customer expectations in the middle of a pandemic

Medalcraft Mint Challenge CoinsFulfilling orders at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic presented unique challenges as Medalcraft Mint and our suppliers worked to confirm the essential business statuses needed for continued operations. The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, understood these challenges while we worked with them to produce two challenge coins of approximately 1,000 combined units.

“We had a lot of manufacturing options overseas, but that Made in the USA label from Medalcraft Mint just makes sense for us,” states Maj. Shamus Gillen, who served as the Citadel Family Association liaison officer during this period. “Medalcraft Mint had some constraints on their end and had to overcome a national lockdown, but the ability to deliver on expectations was a real selling point.”

The Citadel ordered a Recognition Day coin in the spring of 2020 and a commemorative graduation coin during the summer that it mailed out following virtual commencement exercises.

“Our Medalcraft sales rep, Jenifer Baker, was great to deal with and helped us understand what to expect. She sent samples that we had peer-reviewed for engraving ability, and the quality measured up,” Maj. Gillen explains. “Medalcraft Mint provided a 1-2-3 punch of domestic manufacturing, product quality, and customer service of delivering on said expectations.”
