It’s almost time to enjoy the Door County fall colors

Head to Ephraim Shores Resort and get a front-row seat to the beauty

Ephraim Shores Door County fall colors

Summer might be over, but that means that we get to prepare for a truly spectacular season in Door County: fall! Autumn is the perfect time to head up north, bask in the crisp and cool air, and enjoy the vibrant Door County fall colors. The fall colors on the peninsula have been called some of the best in Wisconsin, and we might be biased — but we agree!

Door County is the perfect place for leaf peepers to explore, and after you take in the vibrant oranges, yellows, and reds, your room at Ephraim Shores Resort will be waiting for you to rest and unwind.

See the Door County fall colors for yourself

No matter where you are on the peninsula this fall, you’ll have the chance to see breathtaking and colorful views. Here are a few of our favorite places to see Door County fall colors:

  • Peninsula State Park: Just a three-minute drive from Ephraim Shores Resort, Peninsula State Park is the perfect place to witness the Door County fall colors. Seeing the changing leaves on the bluffs that have been created by the Niagara Escarpment is a breathtaking sight. In addition, the park has 10 miles of flat, fine gravel trails and 12 miles of rugged terrain for biking and hiking so you can really immerse yourself in the topography of Door County. And, don’t miss climbing to the top of Eagle Tower for an aerial view!
  • Ellison Bay & Gills Rock: Head to the tip of the peninsula, taking in the striking Door County fall colors on the famous curvy road to Northport. From there, head to Door Bluff Headlands County Park, where you’ll see the Garrett Bay framed in foilage.
  • Ephraim to Egg Harbor: It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t mention our own picturesque village! Walk along the shoreline for the best view of Door County fall colors by water (and if you’re staying at Ephraim Shores, bundle up and enjoy them from our private sundeck!). Afterwards, get in your car and set off on a scenic drive south through Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, and beyond along Highway 42.

In addition to all the opportunities to take in the scenery, it’s also important to mention that the most popular Door County festivals happen in the fall too. Be sure to head to Egg Harbor’s Pumpkin Patch Festival or Sister Bay’s Fall Festival — not only are you guaranteed to catch the Door County fall colors, but you’ll also have the chance to indulge in fall foods, take a stroll through art fairs and retail shops, and catch some live music, too!

Looking to ensure the leaves are at their peak before you visit? Look at Door County’s Fall Color Report before you head up. We can’t wait to welcome you!
