The opportunity to work on a new college’s first graduation medal doesn’t come around very often, so the Medalcraft Mint Inc. team felt privileged to produce the University of Kentucky Lewis Honors College’s initial graduation medal for 276 graduates.

Lewis Honors College provides an alternative course of instruction for outstanding, highly motivated students from all programs of study. UK’s newest college bestowed its graduates with the Honors designation on their diplomas and transcripts, but Lewis Honors College leaders wanted to take their recognition a step further.

Lexington, Kentucky-based artist Lennon Michalski worked with Lewis Honors College Dean Christian Brady to create a design inspired by the Tree of Knowledge that embodied strength and intelligence. The Medalcraft Mint production team set about creating the custom die for the project, and the order was delivered on time and on budget for the commencement ceremony.
