Just add water: Door County waterfront resorts bring the shoreline to you

At Ephraim Shores Resort, the water is our front yard

Ephraim Shores Resort Door County waterfront resortOne of the best parts about lodging in Door County is that there’s truly something for everyone — personalized amenities, spacious rooms, knowledgeable front desk staff, and much more.

In our opinion, the best lodging perk is a glimpse of the 300 miles of our peninsula’s shoreline. Door County waterfront resorts give you a front-row seat to the deep blue waters of Lake Michigan.

The best Door County waterfront resort perk: a private sundeck!

At Ephraim Shores Resort, our access to the waterfront is our #1 amenity. We’re right across the street from Eagle Harbor and the shores of Green Bay — which means many of our rooms have waterfront views. Even if you don’t have a view of the water from your room windows, all you need to do is cross Highway 42 to access our private beach and sundeck. We equip the space with chaise lounges, Adirondack chairs, and small tables so you can spend as much time enjoying the lake breeze on your face as possible — not to mention have a spot in which to watch the best sunsets in Door County.

Getting out on the water

Want to do more than simply stay in a Door County waterfront resort? Our proximity to boat and Waverunner rentals makes it easy to get out on the water for a day. Head to South Shore Pier — located about a block away from the resort by foot — to get out on a pontoon boat or Waverunner. If you’re looking for a bit more exercise with your water view, South Shore also offers paddle boats.

Right next to South Shore Pier is the Door County Kayak Center, where you can rent stand-up paddleboards and kayaks to explore Eagle Harbor on your own. In addition, the Kayak Center has two kayak tours that stay in Ephraim — the Eagle Harbor tour and the sunset tour.

The Eagle Harbor tour begins in the morning with an up-close and personal view of Eagle Bluff’s 150-foot dolomite cliff face before you head on to explore Horseshoe Island and catch a glimpse of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. The relaxing Sunset Tour leaves 90 minutes prior to sunset and is customizable based on how much time you want to spend out on the water.

Headquartered in the same location, Bella Sailing Cruises have you setting sail aboard “Scuppers,” a vintage sailboat. The tours have five departure times throughout the day during the summer months. This is the most relaxing way to see the bluffs and islands surrounding Ephraim — just bring a few beverages, sit back, and enjoy the incredible scenery.

Other ways to relax by the lake

There are plenty of other ways to enjoy your Door County waterfront resort without having to go out on the water. For example, Ephraim Shores is close to many restaurants — Chef’s Hat Cafe and Wilson’s Restaurant & Ice Cream Parlor, to name two — that offer take-out. Simply get your food to go and head to our private sundeck to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Our upstairs restaurant, Sunset Harbor Grill, is also open May through October and has a great menu of portable sandwiches and salads.

If cooling off is a priority — or you’re traveling with young children who love to play in the water, Ephraim Beach is a few minutes away, giving you and your family a chance to enjoy the warm, shallow water. Did we mention Ephraim Shores Resort is the best family-friendly resort in Door County, too?

Door County waterfront resorts don’t get much better at Ephraim Shores. Book your reservation for the 2024 season here, and we’ll save an Adirondack chair — or two — for you.
